- It’s a knife protection against material other than crop especially rocks.
EXPECTED CHARACTERISTICS:
- Perfect shape to guide the knife bar with reduced friction and wear.
- Keep its original shape against load and shocks. It must not bend or break easily.
- Bending can generate damages or additional wear on the knife. Beside it will impact the cutting efficiency.
- Breakage will impact directly the cutting performance.
TO EVALUATE AND GUARANTEE THE QUALITY OF ITS GUARDS, CASE IH HAS DEVELOPED SPECIFIC TEST PROCEDURE TO MATCH THE BEHAVIOR IN THE FIELDS
- Bend test on the leg.
- Bend test on the lip.
- Tensile on the lip.
The test procedure defines the minimum load for which no bending and no crack is accepted on the part

Competitor parts intend to copy the CASE IH guard.But none of them can pass successfully every test procedure.
Knife section.

EXPECTED CHARACTERISTICS:
- Resistance to wear to remain sharp as long as possible.
- Resistance to the shocks and load constraint as the section can be submitted to heavy load during harvesting.
BASED ON ITS LONG HARVESTING EXPERIENCE CASE IH HAS CREATED A SPECIFIC TEST PROCEDURE TO MATCH THE BEHAVIOR IN THE FIELDS
- Hardness, that can translate the wear resistance.
- Impact resistance, as the knife must not break in case of shock.
- Bending resistance, as when facing an impact, the knife must keep his shape to remain operational.

Out of 6 different competitor knife sections,none of them can pass all the tests and meet CASE IH specifications.
Auger finger.
For varifeed header.
The auger fingers are made to ensure a regular crop flow from the header to the straw elevator and to feed properly the combine.
EXPECTED CHARACTERISTICS:
- Resistance to the load to be able to pull any crop in any conditions.
- Resistance to the shocks as they can hit badly material other than crop like rocks.
- Failure of the finger can be critical as it can generate major damages to the auger when it gets bent, or also when it gets badly broken.
- Consequently, it is specially designed with a groove to create a weaker area where breakage will occur in case of surcharge.
- So the auger finger must never bend. In case of overload, it must first break but only at the predefined area.

Other samples break but with too much lower energy.
Out of six different competitor parts samples, none of them can support the loadand the shocks that a CASE IH genuine finger is able to absorb.

WHAT APPLICATIONS?
Especially recommended for harvesting.:
- When there is grass in the crop
- Small grain very sensitive to grain loss, like grass seeds
COARSE SECTION
- With bigger serrations, they can support harvesting in harsh conditions, difficult to cut.
- They are also efficient in very dry straw conditions
DON’T FORGET
Being more aggressive, they can create more vibrations to the crops so should not be used on crops sensitive to grain loss.
